Everything you need to know about your cycle

A normal cycle lasts 28 days. It starts the first day of your period and ends the day before the start of your next period. Normally ovulation is on the 14th day of the cycle, while the fertile days are usually the 11th, 12th and 13th. However, a premature ovulation may occur on the 7th or the 8th day or some days later, around the 18th or 19th day.

Usually, during puberty, the duration of the period is about 7 days. But as you grow up, it will begin to stabilize between 4-5 days.

The large amount of blood is very common during puberty. Gradually, it will become more stable.

The first time you may not have a fixed cycle. This is perfectly normal. In fact, it is rare at this age to have a stable cycle of 28 days. It may, for example, occur after a period of 2-3 months or even twice within a month. However, if you find that your period is not stable for a long time, it is advisable to visit a gynecologist.

The growth of hormones is also likely to bring mood changes. You might even feel some pain or cramps in your abdomen, headache or nausea. These are normal symptoms of the period, the intensity of which varies from woman to woman. Surely these are unusual pains for you and very unpleasant. But you can minimize period pains!

Some hot drinks, hot packs or a heating pad on the abdomen, will relieve the pain when you’re home. If you want to go out, consult your gynecologist for mild painkillers.

The best solution, however, is sports and gymnastics! Do not interrupt them during the period, as they will help to deal more efficiently with these uncomfortable symptoms.
