Her medical examinations
The first visits to the gynecologist are mainly for advice purposes. At this age the gynecologist usually discusses with your daughter issues such as:
• Any questions about menstruation
• Changes of the body when entering puberty
• General guidelines for hygiene
• Information on vaccination against HPV virus
• Contraception
A complete gynaecological check normally starts a little later, usually around the age of 20 years. Of course this happens if the teenager has a normal and stable menstrual cycle.
If you notice symptoms such as:
• If her period starts before the age of 10 years old
• The menstrual cycle has not appeared until the age of 15
• Unstable cycle
• Very short or very long period
• Very low or very heavy blood flow
• Very painful menstrual cycle the symptoms of which do not subside even with medication
It is important to arrange a visit directly with the gynaecologist and proceed with the medical examinations that the doctor recommends you.
