If a woman has begun sexual activity, it is necessary that she visits her gynaecologist at least once a year and that she performs some routine tests
1. Test Pap: It is a very simple and not at all painful or time – consuming examination during which the gynaecologist receives sample from the cervix in order to determine if there are any changes to the cells, put aside the normal ones caused by biological damage or hormonal changes.
2. Gynaecological ultrasound: It is a non – invasive, completely painless, depictive method during which, the gynaecologist, through a special program, checks the size, the morphology and the composition of the internal genital organs (uterus and ovaries).
3. Breast examination: Breast examination is a very simple way to check your breast for possible changes, such as unusual lumps or wavering. This examination can be easily done by you at home, (ideally on a monthly basis, on the 7th or the 14th day of our cycle), but by no means should it replace regular clinical examination by your doctor.
Regular gynaecological check will protect you from several unpleasant situations and will help you prevent or detect in time possible alterations or diseases. This may sound exaggerated or even stressful, but be sure that regular visit to the gynaecologist will drastically help you maintain good health. Besides, prevention is the best cure.
