What are period abnormalities and what causes them
As we already said, at the beginning of your period, your cycle may not be stable and your period may be irregular. This is perfectly normal. For example, you may have your next period after 2-3 months or even twice a month. You may have a light or a heavy flow.
However, in some cases if the problems are repeatable, it is advisable to arrange a visit to the gynecologist.
Abnormalities that need urgent medical attention include:
• The appearance of blood between two periods.
• Amenorrhoea, which is the complete absence of period.
• Dysmenorrhea, which is characterized by excessive spasms and pains during the period.
• Araiominorroia, when cycles are more than 35 days apart.
• Menorrhagia, which is the unusually large or prolonged blood flow.
Abnormalities in the period may be caused by:
• Hormonal disorders. Approximately 90% of period abnormalities are due to hormonal disorders.
• Psychological disorders, either due to environmental changes (e.g. change of country, home or workplace, personal relationships problems, etc.)
• Severe or unbalanced diets.
• Excessive workout.
• Taking certain drugs.
