Returning to work
Returning to work after maternity leave is never an easy decision. All those changes that have occurred in your life, with pregnancy and the baby’s coming on one hand, and the agony of being away from home for many hours on the other, may deprive you from important moments with the growing baby and make you feel guilty and doubtful whether you are ready to leave your baby and return to your professional responsibilities.
The decision to return to work arises from varying needs, which differ from woman to woman:
1. The contribution to the family income. It is probably the most powerful incentive for a woman to return to Especially after the arrival of the child, the costs are increased both at the beginning, and as the baby grows; therefore the mother‘s contribution to the family budget is a very important factor in this decision.
2. Promotion of a positive. Many women are willing to return to work because they want to offer their children a model of a woman who contributes both to her family and to society. A model of a woman who is independent, self-confident, feels good about herself and all these are reflected in good parenting.
3. The need to be creative. You love your job and the sense of creativity it offers You adore the joys that motherhood offers you but you miss the intensity and creativity from your workplace.
Whatever your motivation is, the fact that you work probably indicates that working is also part of your personality, along with maternity. You grew up with the idea of equality, you studied, struggled to get by, and you feel proud that you can rely on your own strengths.
So if returning to work is also your personal need except from practical reasons, you should not feel guilty. What is important is to feel happy and balanced with your choices. This way, you can be confident that your family and your baby will understand because a good wife and mother is a happy wife and mother.
