Relationship goals
During adolescence you gradually become more and more attracted to boys, who are one of the main topics of discussion with your friends.
They idea of going out on a date with someone may already interest you from the beginning of adolescence, relationships however create responsibilities. Therefore it is important to seriously think about whether you really want to get into a closer relationship with a boy.
A good relationship makes you feel wanted and needed. However it shouldn’t isolate you from your friends or prevent you from doing things that are important for you. You should enjoy the moments you spend together and gain self-esteem. However, if your relationship is not going well and you don’t feel well with yourself it is good to be reminded what a partner’s rights are:
In a relationship, every partner is entitled to:
• Respect
• Good faith
• Be taken care
• Have his own views
• Be trusted
• Be heard
• Personal time
• See friends
• See family
• Make mistakes
• Express emotions
• Say “No”
• Ask for help
The best relationships are those that evolve through friendship. A deeper relationship means giving. Think of what you could give to someone in a relationship and create a list. Then you can make a list of the things you would like a boy to have and how you would like to be treated. Use those lists like a guide and after you get into a relationship look back at those lists. It may not work the first time but it happens to everyone!
